Founded in 2023, Thirunangai Press LLP is a pioneering publication house dedicated to amplifying the voices of oppressed communities everywhere.
In Tamil ‘Thirunangai’ is the salutation for Transwomen. Founded by Dalit-Transwomen from rural areas, Thirunangai Press LLP is creating a vibrant platform that showcases the rich narratives of authors and creators from diverse backgrounds who are facing systemic barriers in publishing their work. Majority of our authors are publishing for the first time and each one has faced marginalisation due to caste, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, location in rural areas, and intersections thereof.

At Thirunangai Press, we envision a world where diverse narratives are celebrated and play a pivotal role in contemporary cultural discourse. We strive to break down barriers and challenge societal norms by providing a space for stories that are often overlooked. Our commitment to justice, liberty,and equality guides every aspect of our work.

Thirunangai Press is one of the many initiatives to have emerged from the Tamil Nadu-based Trans Rights Now Collective, a social action group of dedicated Transwomen, Transmen, and Intersex persons that advocates for access to education and employment for young people from historically marginsalised communities. Several members of TRNC and various leaders from the Dalit rights, Feminist, and Human rights movements have contributed to the germination and nurturing of Thirunangai Press LLP as an independent publication.
As part of our work, our team gives back to the community by supporting TRNC events and programs that are aligned with our goals. Moreover, our team volunteers their time and skills to support the good work done by TRNC and other non-profit groups aligned with our values.
